Ramune60 by Hato

Ramune60’s inspiration

The design of this keyboard was inspired by Ramune, the iconic Japanese soda known for its playful charm and distinctive glass bottle. With its clear lower half filled with fizzy soda, opaque top cap, and signature glass marble sealed inside, the Ramune bottle serves as a direct motif for the keyboard’s form and color palette.

This keyboard captures the refreshing character of Ramune through both its aesthetics and sound. The low-profile case enhances usability while perfectly matching the light and breezy concept. Additionally, a carefully tested and tuned Poron gasket delivers a crisp and clear typing sound that complements the overall design.

Structure of Ramune60

Developing the Internal and External Structure of Ramune-

Ramune60 began with a clear choice — the adoption of the Poron LE-20 gasket mount, which offered the most crisp and classic typing feel among all gasket-based structures I’ve experienced.

The sound profile of Poron LE-20 was already iconic and matched my personal preferences perfectly.
From Kohaku to Keycult, I studied and referenced the compression characteristics and layout of Poron in many renowned keyboards, using them as both benchmarks and sources of inspiration.

In terms of design, my goal was to achieve a fusion of classic and modern aesthetics.
The exposed seam running through the center of the side profile, the 9-degree typing angle, and the classic bottom case shape all pay homage to traditional design elements.
In contrast, the internal structure, mounting system, and outer housing were all engineered through a modern combination of materials.

This exposed seam along the side not only reinforces the Ramune concept, but also maximizes the effect of underglow lighting.

The top case features Ramune60’s signature cherry lip — a smooth, wide curvature inspired by the soft, flowing lines of a Ramune bottle.
From the side, a thin chamfer line runs downward.
Where the cherry lip meets the chamfer, the chamfer gently fades along the curve of the lip.
This subtle sculptural detail serves as a key visual identity of Ramune60, making the keyboard recognizable by the silhouette of its top case alone.

Ramune60 - layout

The Ramune60 offers three case layout options:

True HHKB

WKL

WK

Both the solder and hotswap PCBs support underglow RGB lighting, and are compatible with Stepped Caps Lock, split Backspace, split Right Shift, and the 6U HHKB layout.

Solder / hotswap PCB layout

VENOM PCB compabitlity

The Venom60 PCB is also compatible with the Ramune60, in addition to the exclusive soldered and hotswap PCBs.

Compatible only with WK and WKL layouts, excluding true HHKB.

Choosing the Case Colors

Each case color was carefully selected to reflect the flavors and feelings of Ramune, while also considering what users might naturally be drawn to. At the heart of it is the classic Ramune Blue, the essence of the original. Momo Pink captures the soft, fragrant notes of peach and blooming flowers. And finally, Ice Silver offers a versatile and accessible option that complements any setup.

Pantone Metallic colors may differ significantly between physical swatches and on-screen appearance, unlike solid colors.

The Ramune blue features an anodized finish inspired by the Pantone Metallics 10274 C color.

The Momo pink is planned with an anodizing treatment similar to Pantone Metallics 10160 C color.

The Ice silver is anodized in a bright tone.

All anodized aluminum top cases and stainless steel weights undergo a fine zirconium blasting process. To achieve a higher level of refinement for the Ramune60, we chose a more premium surface treatment than what's typically used on standard aluminum keyboards. This results in a significantly smoother and silkier anodized and PVD finish compared to conventional bead blasting.

And One More — Kuro edition

A black PVD-coated stainless steel weight,
a black anodized aluminum top case,
and a solid PEI bottom, precisely CNC-machined

Kuro Edition began with the idea of creating a special edition using premium materials. Having had great experiences with the increasingly popular PEI (Polyetherimide) material in plates, we extended its use beyond just the plate—applying it to the entire bottom case. Compared to PC, PEI offers a sharper, crisper, and more resonant sound profile, making it a perfect high-end material that aligns beautifully with the Ramune concept. All other components are unified in black. Just like the standard version, the top case and the weight feature a finely smooth black surface achieved through zirconia blasting treatment.
